After feeling sore from the walk from Muktinath and crossing the Thorung Pass the day before I needed to re focus on my health. At times you push yourself too hard – So I tended to a couple of blisters, took some pain killers, washed my feet ( no showers) – re arranged my kit I was carrying and most importantly I ate some healthy food and had an early night.
So this morning I was ready for the world once more. We trekked a dusty road from Jomson to Kobang ( 2560m) there is a lot of road works along the route. They are trying to make safe the main highway stretching from India to China – this particular section goes through a wide open dusty valley. Tom was on form taking footage of the changing landscape and local people along with interviews with myself about the training this year.
At one point a girl of about 3 years old struggled to fill a water container and carry it to her house – so I helped her carry it as she held my hand and led me into her house to meet her parents. The whole family then posed for a photograph before I gave the girl a bit of money for working hard!
We got into the lodge 6 hours after starting out – I feel better tonight which is good news as we have 5 more hard days ahead of us.
Too many children carrying water! 😦 You were kind to her. 🙂
